Red Oak Café

The SSE HQ building is called ‘Red Oak,’ because of the large red oak at the front of the building. This became one of our main inspirations in the design treatment and visual language of the staff restaurant — the Red Oak Café. We created this sub-brand based on the overarching SSE brand guidelines, including use of colour, tone of voice, iconography and typography. Bright green is the main colour used within the space — creating a sense of energy.

 

Using sustainable wood sourced in Ireland, we designed and built a unique tree structure situated at the centre of the dining space. The simple and colourful wall graphics were based on this tree structure. Adding further character to the space are the comment / feedback boxes which look like bird boxes.
